So sorry! June 18, 2007

Filed under: Little things — handmadelove @ 4:48 pm

The wind’s blown me over to somewhere better.
I’m so so so sorry about having you guys shift your reads from one place to another.

From blogger, livejournal, vox and then to wordpress.
And now finally Typepad.

But you see, I’ve been wanting to use Typepad since I was blogging on Blogger.
It was just too expensive for me to afford.
But now, I’ve finally convinced my sponsers ( mum and dad ) and yep. I’ve shifted!

See you over at the other side!

Good news: You can suscribe to my feed! That would make reading so much simpler too!

:)
See you then!

and do say hi!

I’m back! June 15, 2007

Filed under: Trips — handmadelove @ 10:49 am

It’s been awfully hot and rainy since I’ve returned from the tea and strawberry hills at Cameron Highlands.

Strawberry picking

This short trip has been refreshing, but I think I needed more time. Returning back home, was something I wasnt looking forward to. Haha…Found out spicy stuff during camp, became closer friends with some, had many many funny and ugly photos, laughed so much our sides ached and talked about dying cause we laughed till we choke, prayed a lot and got sick, and ate many many strawberries and tried rose petals even! But nevertheless, I’m back.

More photos of the trip once I sort out the 7 memory cardfull of photos. Haha.
See you around! ;-)

MARKIE
PS: I took this photo and did this drawing, all on the coach ride home, thus the shaky bit.
I had baskin robins icecream, which was awfully good. And thus Markie was ‘created’.

A little longer… June 10, 2007

Filed under: Teaching art — handmadelove @ 7:29 am

And because I’m going off to camp and will only be back come late Thursday night/Friday, here’s a little bit more, just to keep you occupied a little while longer. Haha ;-)

****

Taught for 4 lessons straight, (basically stood on my feet from 9 to 6 ) went home and had really sore feet. It didnt help that the kids were a little naughtier and stubborn today.

Friday Saturday
My favourite but scarily big 2pm class

And this week was the last week Kita was working at Studio Miu. She’s going back to Japan! :(

bye bye Kita!

But nevertheless, thank you Kita, for always making lessons fun. For making me laugh when you could fit into the table cupboard, those pastel green crocs with all sorts of lovely bits of accessories, for helping me out and taking over, when I just wanted to pull my hair out running and scolding those kids, etc etc. Thank you so much! And hopefully, I’ll see you in Kyoto! Then see Kaoru in Osaka, then Toyko. HAHA.. Ya. Maybe when I save up enough money, that is. lol :D

For Kita

Well, that’s all I have for now to show you. As you can tell, when I’m not doing art in my little home ‘studio’ space, I’m away in a dirty apron, teaching art and laughing along with kiddos.

Till Friday, do be safe!
Oh and if youre here, do say hi! I don’t bite. Haha..

Mizuki-Chan! June 8, 2007

Mizuki-Chan!

Mizuki-Chan is 8 years old. She loves eating lollies and goes everywhere with a whole bag full of lollies. Her favorite color is Yellow, and she likes tying her hair up in two pigtails.
She has a special ability to contort her not-so-tiny feet and she prefers walking around barefooted. Ps: She likes feeling the sandy bits on the road.

;-)

Ps: I’m still working and playing around with more ideas for her yellow frame though.

Meet Mizuki Chan!

I’ll post the final coloured one tomorrow, together with her little description! :-)

This is my very first piece, for my coming second solo show in August, titled: こんにちは Hello!

It’s going to be held on the 4th and 5th of August 2007. I went to check out the hugeee 4x4mx3 walls exhibition space today, got down to spending 2 hrs in the Ikea frames section buying the best suitable frames. And now I’m so tired, I want to just chill a little first, have a drink or two, before starting on more sketching and drawing :-D

Like I said, planning and doing a solo show,
it all gets very excitingly addictive for me!

I wanted to kill these kids today
The kids in class did a wonderful job today.
They complained so much about how they hated charcoals and drawing and that it was so boring and blah blah blah I got so frustrated.
It didnt help that I was already having a really bad day. Tiffany and Sara were still okay. And though they complained so much, they still did a good job in the end. Especially Tiffany.

BUT KATE AND ISSEY WERE SERIOUSLY KILLIN ALL MY PATIENCE!
:( :(:(

They refused to listen and kept complaining and talking and disturbing the other two girls. They argued and talked back to me, played with each other when I did a demo and helped to edit their work. Broke charcoals on purpose, made a mess while drawing, and even poked me many many times using the charcoal. I would usually be able to take such things on normal days. But today wasnt normal.
I had a bad day and a bad back. And their mischeif just killed my teaching mood TOTALLY.

In the end, I refused to talk to them for half an hour, and gave them less cookies and made a ‘complaint’ in their notebooks.

:( !!!

Teacher dawn is not to be fussed and bossed around and not be respected at all ok!

On a sidenote, July and August will be seeing some excitingly new things!
July: Booth with Sheryo at Maad!
August: こんにちは Hello! second solo show at Maad!

Where we gonna go from here June 3, 2007

Dr. Meredith Grey: Maybe we’re not supposed to be happy. Maybe gratitude has nothing to do with joy. Maybe being grateful means recognizing what you have for what it is. Appreciating small victories. Admiring the struggle it takes simply to be human. Maybe we’re thankful for the familiar things we know. And maybe we’re thankful for the things we’ll never know. At the end of the day, the fact that we have the courage to still be standing is reason enough to celebrate.

This is not exactly art realated. But I just cant believe the heart breaking ending of Greys season 3.
One reason why I keep watching Greys, is because of the little lessons I learn from each episode.

At the end of the day, the fact that we have the courage to still be standing is reason enough to celebrate… …

Really Sweet June 2, 2007

Filed under: Teaching art — handmadelove @ 10:23 pm

That’s what the kiddos have been this week.
Class B Happy Class A

So this week, I’ve become not only Teacher donkey ( dawn-key ),
I’ve also managed to set up my own teeny clay cuppycake business,
have my own little shop, and labelled cute, to Jintah and Irisha.
I’ve become 18, 20, 30 and even 38 years old in just one day!
And the kiddos stood up for me! ;-)

Okay. They just kept calling me: Sinsei Kawaii blah blah blah in Japanese.

“DAWN SINSEH, (points to myself) NIHON GOH WAKARIMASEN!

Kita san says it’s really sweet, the things the kids do and say.
Well, I allow them to call me teacher donkey, as long as they are
still polite and do their work nicely. If not, I’d be lowering my glasses
and giving them the ‘allison look’. HAHA

Jintah Kun!

Lol.

This song makes me miss painting, with just you and nothing else, in my mind.

Rain or Shine, I'd grow old with you.
